it’s important, not blah blah blah!

“And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit. And I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the LORD shall come. And it shall come to pass that whoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.” (Joel 2:29–32, Webster)
“For behold, in those days and in that time, when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem, I will also gather all nations and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations and divided my land. And they have cast lots for my people, and have given a boy for a harlot and sold a girl for wine, that they might drink. Yes, and what have ye to do with me, O Tyre, and Zidon, and all the coasts of Palestine? Will ye render me a recompense? And if ye recompense me, swiftly and speedily will I return your recompense upon your own head; because ye have taken my silver and my gold, and have carried into your temples my goodly pleasant things. The children also of Judah and the children of Jerusalem have ye sold to the Grecians, that ye might remove them far from their border. Behold, I will raise them out of the place whither ye have sold them, and will return your recompense upon your own head: and I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the children of Judah, and they shall sell them to the Sabeans, to a people far off: for the LORD hath spoken it.” (Joel 3:1–8, Webster)
“And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood.” (Revelation 6:12, Webster)

Here we start with scripture in Joel, and again, scripture proves scripture. Prophecy is not “blah blah blah”—it is truth that must be understood.
These passages point clearly to the Great Tribulation, which immediately precedes the Second Coming. We then see the direct connection to Revelation 6:12 under the “sixth seal.” This does not mean the moon literally turned to blood, but that it “became as blood,” referring to the dust and debris filling the air from the great earthquake, just as dust and smoke often color the sky during wars or disasters we’ve seen countless times in modern history.
This forms a helpful framework for seeing how God interacts with humanity across different dispensations.
Pentecost represents the “Early Rain” that launched the Church.
The Tribulation will bring a specific “Latter Rain” for those who turn to God during the final years, and the Millennium will mark a global indwelling of the Spirit as described in Ezekiel 36:26, when the “heart of stone” is replaced with a “heart of flesh.”
Briefly stated: the Day of Pentecost, continuing unto this hour (Acts 2:1–28:31); the future Great Tribulation (Acts 2:16–21); and the Millennium (Isaiah 32:15; 44:3; Ezekiel 36:26–27; 39:29; Zechariah 12:10).
Chapter 3 of Joel continues seamlessly, describing the future deliverance of Israel, the judgment of the nations that oppressed her, the ascension of Immanuel upon the throne of Jehovah at Jerusalem, His vindication of His ancient people, the destruction of the Antichrist’s army, the moral glory of Jerusalem, her appointment as a center of blessing to the earth, and the future astonishing fertility of the land of Israel. The Grecians, the Syrian division of the Greek Empire, represent the origin of the “Little Horn” or Antichrist figure.

The Sabeans, described as “a people far off,” symbolize the coming reversal of power, when former oppressors are brought under the new Kingdom.
The phrase “bring again the captivity” is a Hebrew idiom meaning to restore well-being or return to a former state of blessing, while “the remnant whom the Lord shall call” refers to those preserved believers who survive the Tribulation.“When I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem” signifies restoration. “I will also gather all nations” points to the soldiers of many nations aiding the Antichrist in his efforts to destroy Israel. Whatever their plans, it is the Lord Who gathers them. “And will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat” refers to the valley of Megiddo, and the name “Jehoshaphat” means “Jehovah has judged.” When God says, “I will plead with them there for My people and for My heritage Israel,” it refers to the Second Coming, when the Lord will fight as He once fought in the day of battle (Zechariah 14:1–3).

Many people fail to search out scripture and see how plainly it explains itself.
Joel 3:3 speaks not only of a single moment but of all time. Though its statements concern the coming Antichrist and the Battle of Armageddon, the Holy Spirit also speaks beyond that—to every age, declaring that such treatment of Israel will end. Even though the Jewish people are presently far from God, the promise made to Abraham still stands true: “I will bless them who bless you, and curse him who curses you” (Genesis 12:3). When people or nations touch Israel in a negative way, they touch God Himself.
The term “Grecians” again points to the Antichrist, who arises from the Syrian division of the old Grecian Empire. The phrase “sold them” does not necessarily mean literal slavery but describes the dire conditions Israel faces because of the Antichrist’s oppression. “Out of the place” likely refers to Petra, where Israel will flee during the Great Tribulation when the Antichrist declares war on her (Revelation 12).

The phrase “I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the children of Judah” refers to the defeat of the Antichrist at the Battle of Armageddon, when all Gentile powers will come under Israel’s authority, including the Arabs symbolized by the Sabeans. The Sabeans, people from the region of Sheba—modern day Yemen, were known as traders in Joel’s time. Thus, saying that the former oppressors will be sold to “a people far off” implies that those who once scattered Israel will themselves be scattered and placed under Israel’s dominion.
Mentioning the Arab nations through the Sabeans aligns with the “Table of Nations” in Genesis, where Sheba is connected to the descendants of Abraham through Keturah or to the descendants of Joktan. In closing, after this reflection on time, prophecy, and dispensations, one truth stands clear: prophecy is never “blah blah blah.”
Eschatology is important, and scripture, when read with understanding, beautifully and simply interprets itself.
