I know somebody, who knows somebody

“Then he went down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.” (2 Kings 5:14, Webster)

In verse 3 same chapter this young maiden was saying ” I know somebody, who knows somebody, who knows what to do for you. She naturally spoke of the prophet yet more so she spoke of God, of Christ, the healer, and deliverer and soon coming King of Glory, let’s investigate.

Leprosy in the Old Testament was a type of the spiritual condition of unregenerate man. There was no earthly cure for leprosy, just as there is no earthly cure for sin. All of these great things said about Naaman did not save or heal him; he was still a leper. And so are the untold millions in the world who think their state, status, and position mean something with God…… They don’t!

The “little maid” would figure prominently in history. The Holy Spirit does not even give her name; however, her testimony will affect nations, changing lives, countless millions throughout history to now 2026, and beyond. It’s worth mentioning or saying:  it would have been very easy for her to have been bitter, morose, and angry toward God, for Him allowing her to be taken captive away from her land and family, and made a slave in Syria, yet she exhibited none of these evil traits. She retained her testimony. The things she did not understand, she left in the Hands of God.

What an example!  What a prime example!

Then we see how Naaman went in, and told his lord, Ben-hadad, the king of Syria, then departed taking with him ten talents of silver, six thousand pieces of gold, and ten changes of clothing; broken down in 2026 value this is what one gets:
10 Talents of Silver: A talent weighs roughly 75 lbs. At $30/oz, this equals approximately $3.6 million.
6,000 Pieces of Gold: Assuming these were shekel-sized (0.4 oz), this totals 2,400 oz. At $2,500/oz, this equals $6 million.
10 Changes of Raiment: High-end ancient ceremonial clothing was hand-woven with rare dyes. In modern luxury terms, these could be valued at $50,000–$100,000.
The total estimated value is roughly $9.7 million.
Sadly, and wrongly so, man has ever been trying to purchase something from God, when, in reality, the Lord has nothing for sale; it is all a free gift, as seen in John 3:16.

Unfortunately, much of the modern Church is trying to evangelize the world by financial, and political means, which are worse than useless. They are attempting to establish some type of “pseudo-Christian kingdom age philosophy.” There is nothing in the Word of God that even remotely hints at such. Evangelism is carried on by the preaching of the Gospel, and by no other means. In review please see the following:Mark 16:15; 1 Corinthians 1:17–18, 23; 2:2

Expecting to be waited on hand and foot, then being told what and how to do something was very angering to him, as Naaman was a powerful man and warranted, he thought, much more than this curt dismissal; entire nations trembled at his presence; after all, he was the mightiest military chieftain on the face of the Earth.

All of this is pride, which is the crowning sin of the human race. Pride puts fools behind pulpits rather than God’s chosen, pride causes divorce, destruction, abuse, arrogance, eisegesis rather than exegesis; simply because someone just ‘can’t be wrong’. It’s the reason that most never receive from God, and the same reason that many pew abiding parishioners are actually unsaved.

Every individual must come to the Lord the same way, the great, the rich, the poor, the small, they are all the same to the Lord, no different than poor, wretched lepers.

Pride said also: “why can’t I wash in cleaner rivers? “  The Abana and Pharpar, were some of the clearest streams in the world, so why this muddy Jordan? In fact, the Jordan, at least at this time, was a Type of Calvary.
Yes, it is muddy; yes, there are other rivers much more beautiful; however, there are no healing qualities in the other rivers, as beautiful as they may be, where there is total healing and cleansing in this Jordan, i.e., “Calvary.”

Ever desiring their own way or devices, men are ever asking, “What can I do to earn Salvation?” Most of the world is trying to earn its salvation by good works, reading so much a day, donations, volunteering, vacuuming, mowing painting, etc. ; but, in reality, all one has to do, as it regards Calvary, is to “wash, and be clean.”

Man is spiritually dirty. This “dirt” cannot be cleansed by the “soap” of this world or the church and all its forms, ceremonies or rituals, but only by the Precious Blood of Jesus Christ.
